I'll Be There For You

PLEASE READ CAREFULLY!!!

Ask your parents to read this, too!!!

For the 3rd year in a row, the John Paterson Chorus
has been asked to sing at the Newington Relay For Life!
Our performance will be Friday night, May 18th.
More details will be posted when we get closer to that date.

We are performing the song "I'll Be There For You"
because we like the message of one person always being
there to help out a friend.

"I'll Be There For You" is by the Rembrants, and was the
theme song for the hit TV show called "Friends".

We will also be performing "The Star-Spangled Banner".

Mr. Kemp wants us to learn "I'll Be There For You" in 3 steps:

Step 1 - Become Familiar

Become familiar with the song by watching some YouTube
videos with the original band the Rembrants playing and singing.

For a FUN YouTube video, CLICK HERE.
For a YouTube video that includes the lyrics, CLICK HERE.
(Click "Skip This Ad" once that button appears.)

Mr. Kemps wants you to spend the LEAST amount of time on Step 1.

Step 2 - Practice!

With some computer magic, Mr. Kemp changed the Rembrants
voices to a higher key. Our chorus can't sing the song in the original
low key. We need to sing the song higher.

PROBLEM - the problem is, the Rembrants sound very funny singing
so high! Try to get past how silly it sounds. THIS is the version of the
song you need to practice in order to sing the song well!

Listen 1 or 2 more times, then practice singing along with the following:

This new video is formatted to run on the program Quick Time.

Click Here if you need the lyrics.

Mr. Kemp wants you to spend the MOST amount of time on Step 2.

Step 3 - Perform it!!!

Now see if you can perform it Karaoke style! The band will play,
but nobody will be singing except for YOU!!!

Have fun with this, folks! Try having a contest with your family and
friends to see who can sing it the best! It can be your own private
"American Idol" or "The Voice" contest!
