Should I play in Band?

More questions and answers!

Question #1: What does it mean to be in a Band?

Answer: At Paterson School, that means you are a Woodwind
player, a Brass player, or maybe a Percussionist. You will either play
the Flute, Clarinet, Trumpet, Saxophone, Trombone, Baritone Horn,
or Percussion. You might possibly play the Oboe or French Horn.

Question #2: Is it easier to play a Band instrument?

Answer: NO!!! Don't think of any instrument as "easy" or "hard".
Here is a simple truth - If you WORK at your instrument, you will
be successful. If you do NOT work at it, you will NOT be successful!

Question #3: Why did you tell us we should NOT think about drums?

Answer: There are 3 major 'sections' of the Band. Woodwind, Brass,
and Percussion. Percussion instruments include Drums, Cymbals,
Bass Drum, and anything else you can HIT, SCRAPE, or SHAKE.
Yes, I will need some Percussion players, but only 2 or 3. There
are far too many people that want to play percussion instruments,
so I will select 2 or 3 students who are responsible and I know will
work hard. (Playing Percussion instruments is NOT easy!)
