Gift Ideas
Looking for a gift for your young musician??? Birthday coming? Holidays coming?
Here are a few gift suggestions for our 4th grade instrumentalists:
- A music stand. Folding stands can be purchased at many local music stores
for a reasonable price. Having a stand to hold music while the student is playing will help the student develop correct playing posture which is an important habit to learn. ***NOTE: Mr. Kemp has these stands available
for purchase for just $15.00. (This is what they cost Mr. Kemp.)
- Extra size 2 reeds if your child plays clarinet or alto saxophone. Again, these can be purchased locally for a reasonable price. ***Mr. Kemp has reeds
available for $2.00 each.
- A nice plastic folder for their music! $2.00 from Mr. Kemp. CLICK HERE
to see what they look like.
- A music book for your child’s instrument—perhaps a book of holiday songs or Disney songs—what ever you feel your child would enjoy playing for enrichment. Books of this type can be purchased either locally or on-line. Many books of this type come with accompaniment CDs to make the songs more fun for the students to play. Many books also come with piano accompaniment parts if you, another child, or a friend plays piano. Look for music labeled very easy or easy at this point in your child’s playing experience.
- ***Great idea: A CD (or MP3's) of a professional musician playing your child’s instrument.
Such CD’s can either be purchased at a local book/music store or on-line. If you visit a store you can most likely get an employee to help you find a recording. If you choose to shop on-line you can usually type the name of the instrument (or musician/artist) in when prompted to help you narrow your selection. **CHECK YOUR LOCAL LIBRARY FOR IDEAS!
- A CD, DVD, or MP3 of a professional band or orchestra. Again, these can be locally purchased or purchased on-line.
