3rd Grade Instrument Talk

Instrument Collage

Parents of 3rd Grade students,

It's that time of year! 3rd graders are getting ready
for 4th grade. In music, that means learning about
and picking out a musical instrument to play.

After Mr. Kemp speaks with your child about his
recommendations, he plans on calling every 3rd
grade parent to speak with you and answer your
questions about next year.

Here are some things you can do in the meantime:

  1. Speak with your child about the conversation
    they had with me.

  2. Check out information about SUMMER MUSIC.

  3. Explore the San Francisco Orchestra's Kids site
with your child. Especially here: Instruments of the Orchestra
(If this site does not work on your computer,
    try Googling a few instruments.)

  4. Help them to understand that playing an instrument
will mean a lot of hard work and practice. Review the
    Instrumental Guidelines with your child
and help them to understand what they mean.

  5. If you do not want to wait for my phone call, or if you
have additional questions regarding your child's
    instrument, e-mail your questions to:

    MrKemp@PatersonMusic.net (Parents only!)

  6. If I have not contacted you by June 9th, please e-mail
me or call me at Paterson. My extension is 226.

QUESTION: Mr. Kemp left me a message. Do I have to call
him back now?

ANSWER: The reason I call people at this time of year is to
make sure you are aware of Summer Music and to answer
any questions you have about next year. ***If you need a
Paterson instrument for the SUMMER, then you need to
send a note in to Mr. Kemp with your request.

I am more than happy to answer any and all
questions you might have. E-mail me at MrKemp@PatersonMusic.net.
If you do not have any questions, and you do not need
an instrument for the summertime, then it is not necessary
for you to call me back.
