"Happy Birthday"
Singing Challenge

Our next challenge is ready!

Mr. Kemp is working on a project with 3rd graders.

The challenge: Can we improve the way we sing "Happy Birthday"?

The scores we can get:

1 = The student did not sing using their singing voice.

2 = The student got SOME of the notes right.

3 = The student got MOST of the notes right.

4 = Right on! The student got ALL the notes right.

5 = Advanced - Not only are all the notes right, but the student sings with extraordinary tone, rhythm, and phrasing. (Extremely hard to get.)

***If the student received a "+", that means they almost made it
to the next scoring level. If they received a "-", that means they made
it to that level, but just barely. For example: a "3-" is higher than a "2+".

A note on Mr. Kemp's feedback sent home to parents:

If I mentioned that a section is "too low", I am referring to pitch.
So in other words, the singing was too deep.
I will never refer to the loudness of the singing unless I use
the words "loud" or "quiet"; and I am rarely concerned with loud or
quiet when I assess singing.
